Step Out

Step out

from your dreams,
leave empty slumbers
and be a person who is aware;
a person of no fear,
be a person who dares greatly
to take one step

unafraid of where
your feet will find a path
or where the thousands of steps
to follow will land, or those
steps yet to come—
rather
finding faith
and fulfillment in
that one single step
where your progress
has begun.

Step out

and break
your indecisions
because your timidness
breeds delay,
with days soon slipped away
leaving you to lament over time lost,
baring the weighty cost of an empty thought
of ‘what could have been?

Rather find boldness,
magic, power, and genius
from within—
when you
step out
and just
begin.

I dream of men who take the next step instead of worrying about the next thousand steps.

Theodore Roosevelt

Each indecision brings its own delays And the days are lost lamenting over lost days. What you can do or think you can do, begin it. For boldness has magic, power, and genius in it.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
