Enchanted by your being,
my heart fell deeply in love,
and my whole world moved
the moment I became
aware of you...
...the one I choose.
When it seems like others denied.
You, a welcomed part of my universe.
You, with whom I’ve decided
to share my life.
I see your worth anew
each time, looking
into your eyes.
In these moments
a spark in my heart
ignites, lighting up my soul
to let Love's flame burn bright.
The connection right here
so pure and undivided,
to guide us both through
darkened times.
Gone —
are lonely nights.
With no fear
stay—
here, in my embrace and we’ll meet the sunrise
and I’ll keep you safe until next sunset
with each beat thumping
in my chest,
with our hearts continuing to sing
because of our shared presence.
So grateful—
our stars crossed.
Divinely written in skies above.
So thankful,
simply because—
we thankfully have
a whole lifetime to experience and express
our Love.
What Happened To Your Heart?
I came across this touching moment of Gabby, an adoptee from China, as she began explaining to her mom what happened to her heart the first time she met them.
It inspired me to capture the sentiment in a poem.
What I love about this piece is that it that is it the voice of both the adopter and the adoptee.
Again...why not both?
Everyone Lives an Untold Story
I have a special place in my heart for adoptees because my own mother was adopted.
She never went in depth to shared her experience with me. Later in life one of my aunts revealed that my mother had to give up her ‘never seen’ son when she was younger.
It gave a whole new meaning to the deep level of care she showed her four sons throughout our lives.
To Find Love, You Must First Believe It Exist
It's truly amazing how much love, care, and kindness can be expressed. Yet, it's often hindered by doubt, insecurity, or the disbelief that such expressions are even possible.
This piece is dedicated to adopters and adoptees.
Foster parents and foster children.
Guardians and those whom they guard.
In your search for Love, I hope you found yourself in yourself...and in another.
