Endure —
put strength into and
reaffirm your ‘why’;

continue to move and do the mundane with the discipline again and again; maintain and make way for suffering and joy
to coexist, because this
is what it means to live;
to give a reason
to give all of you.

from your heart
from your core
from deep inside

Endure

(this is life)
because with time
you’ll eventually wear away
all the lies —
cause when you endure
the true you
is realized.

“We can endure much more than we think we can; all human experience testifies to that. All we need to do is learn not to be afraid of pain. Grit your teeth and let it hurt. Don’t deny it, don’t be overwhelmed by it. It will not last forever. One day, the pain will be gone and you will still be there.” ~ Harold S. Kushner

Endurance at It’s Root

The etymology of “endure” originated from the Old French word "endurer," which comes from the Latin word "indurare."

The Latin root of this word, "durare," means 'to harden' or 'to make hard.' When combined with the prefix "in-," meaning 'in,' it forms the concept of enduring as going through something without breaking or maintaining existence.

With those who endure, this is a part of the character strength of discipline, as it requires strength and perseverance. These are also elements of grit.

How do you put this virtue into action?

People talk about the ability to endure. To endure anything and everything, to keep going, to be strong. But you can do that only if you're not alone. That's always the infrastructure life's built on. A closeness with others. Alone it all becomes a struggle of mere endurance. ~ lain Reid

We Endure with Others

For you to maintain, you need integrity as an individual.

Now, after that is realized, to further fortify yourself, know that a bundle of sticks is stronger than a single stick on its own.

After running a 10k with my brother and sister. I’ve come a long way, yet every journey started somewhere. It’s always good to share the effort with others.

Find a gritty community and others who value this virtue and put it into action.

In speaking about getting what you want, Venus Williams eventually ends with “So, you got to pay the price and then you have to have discipline and then the world is open to you.”

To Get What You Want in Life

The seven-time Grand Slam champion, Venus Williams, started her journey as an underdog, but through unwavering determination and skill, she has become a true legend in the sport.

Recently, at the 10xladies event organized by Elena Cardone, Venus sat down and shared the essential mantra that has guided her life: “I truly believe that discipline is freedom.

She went on to discuss the negative impact of lacking discipline and the potential consequences that can arise from it. The tennis star emphasized that without discipline, “That’s when the anxiety sets in because you know you’re not paying the price. And if you don’t pay the price, you get nothing.”

Her words serve as a reminder that success comes from dedication and staying committed to one's goals. It's a valuable lesson for anyone striving to achieve greatness in their own endeavors.

For me, I believe creative expression through writing reaffirms and helps form the character of adolescents in their formative. So I’ve dedicated and disciplined my life to using my creative words to attract families to creative expression and help them heal themselves.
