I type this
with gratitude,
because your words
have served me greatly.
Simple sentences you’ve penned
have saved me.
Gave me a clear perspective
when I lost my way—
Laid plain the different sides
of the same truth, yet
said in your most unique
and empowering way.
Because I know you
most intimately—
and where you were when
you wrote them.
Working through the worry,
overcoming doubt,
through your commitment to process,
to eventually write them out.
So from the future,
be encouraged Marcus!
Be of good cheer—
continue to scribe for the Divine
because your lines
have brought us here.
From your life of integrity
find your peace.
Note your poetry
and help meet the world's needs.
In time you’ll know and see,
you channel a Word
from the Awareness, and all
the infinite blessings
It brings.
And in
the fullness of gratitude
from yourself,
and your future to be,
thank you Marcus—
for writing
these words
for me.
(To the past, from the present:
Your words are well received)
Write Here. Right Now.
And Your Words Will Keep in Time
Often times I find my poetry around my house, online, or a friend repeats a phrase back a line they remember hearing me speak, and I think...
“Who is this guy?”
Then I remember where I was when I wrote it.
This is why I encourage from a young age to have youth write and reflect on their virtues and values. Bring it to their awareness and start putting them into action.
This will be the evidence and examples for them, as they forge their character.
It’s All for an Audience of One
Is this written as present me speaking to Marcus Aurelius the Emperor.
Or is it present me speaking to Marcus Aurelius Higgs the youth who wrote for me?
Why not both?
...it’s all to an audience of one.
My words keep me.
This is a piece on integrity.
Those written in the past, reflected on from the future,
to find gratitude and take action in the present.
Integrity means “to be held together.”
The world will break you...as it does.
When you have integrity,
at times you will be broken,
yet, not utterly destroyed.
“Everything that eventually grows, must first be broken.”
